Environmental seminar on water saving system contributing to the society

Water quality is one of the most vital aspects of our environment. Effective control of water pollution and reduction in water consumption have been a long process to enhance the environment of Hong Kong. On 23 June 2006, the AMC, IT and CA Divisions jointly organised a technical seminar on water saving for the society. Mr H T Yeoh, president of Totaru Plan (HK) Limited gave us a talk on how an environmental friendly system - "Setsuryu-save" water saving system, can save water in domestic and commercial use of water and corporate the social responsibilities in Hong Kong.

The "Setsuryu-save" water saving system is based on the induction of mechanical spiral surface for water flow to reduce the water consumption. This central spiral channel will create clockwise spiral flow to water stream surface, while the core of the water stream remains directional. As the core of the water stream will be affected by the spiral design, water coming from the device will be directional, but not radiated. The spiral effect is introduced to the surface to the water stream, surrounding air will be sucked in to create mixing and pressure. Hence, the amount of water used will be controlled and the efficiency can be improved.

With the unique structure, over 1,000 optional models are created in accordance with various water service application purposes. Water saving can be carried out effectively and comfortably without changing the existing faucets and accessories. The models are made of high quality stainless steel 304 and 316F. The main features of these materials are non-erosive, blockage-free and durable; it can be used for a lifetime even under a high temperature condition. This system can achieve water saving estimated from 10% - 65% especially suitable for the uses in hospitals, restaurants, factories, sauna baths, schools, hotels and domestic buildings.

During the question-and-answer session, members have great interest to know how much money can be really saved, how the cost can be measured in proven of the result, does the installation affect the use of the customers and the need of maintenance in the system etc. Finally the seminar came to the end with representatives from the AMC, CA and IT Divisions presented a souvenir to the speaker and thanked them for their informative and interesting talk on the environmental water saving system and how it can contribute to the society.
